    Try a career as a professional career Firefighter/Paramedic. Our largest cause of death? Our own hand - your film is at home, before you become a handmaid. Come visit us in the Azores... my wife will chronicle your first film, starting with the dreams we have... You are either bravely forward? Or falsely desiring clicks... The Beast of fire is brutal as is the war of mankind.

    The average allied soldier knew the Nazis hated Jews, gypsy's, gays, disabled etc. They knew about the ghettos (or rather that was readily available information) they didn't know the extent until camps started to be liberated. While many Germans at the time claimed they didn't know the extent, from newspapers published at the time, the number of people involved we know they had a good idea. I have no sympathy for Germans of that time. Europe's Jewish population still hasn't recovered.

    I tis called RefeEding syndrome. Refeeding syndrome (RFS) is a metabolic disturbance which occurs as a result of reinstitution of nutrition in people and animals " When too much food or liquid nutrition supplement is eaten during the initial four to seven days following a malnutrition event, the production of glycogen, fat and protein in cells may cause low serum concentrations of potassium, magnesium and phosphate.[2][3] The electrolyte imbalance may cause neurologic, pulmonary, cardiac, neuromuscular, and hematologic symptoms-many of which, if severe enough, may result in death." they have to be fed very slowly until electrolytes are replaced. they needed daily doses of mineral and vitamin supplements. So the Doc was right.

    Although it's not "your thing", I'd like to suggest you watch a music video by an A capella group called "Home Free". The video is "Brothers in Arms. As a retired SFC, US Army, and of the immediate Post Vietnam Army, this hits home. I have 3 deployments under my belt, my son has 1 (Iraq), and though his PTSD has gotten better, he still suffers to this day.

    I really dislike a lot of commentary on Band of Brothers reactions, but you came at this from a very heavy film-study background, so I actually enjoyed it and didnt mind as much as it offered a unique perspective. Very often folks add some very useless nonsense commentary, but this was fine and actually cool and didnt go crazy on random fluff.

    No need for a sorry at the end this tears me up every time but it is why we fought so hard, why we did what we did. They killed so many people for what? To make a superior race? They got their butt handed to them in the Olympics by no less than Jesse Owens an African American in 1936 so who was better?

    12:40 yeah the scene with the Chocolate is kind of heartwarming. I heard that french military MRE´s even have or had little 200 mil wine bottles i guess those would be major morale boost too knowing you had a little "aperitive" to sip on after you ate your canned meat and crackers are whatever they had back then.

    The three men being shot on the side of the road were most likely SS men. The SS ran the camps, they were the men, who committed the war crimes and atrocities throughout Germany, from the massacres of Russian towns, French Towns, Pows, to even their own citizens towards the very end of the war. If those soldiers did not start out as psychopaths, the vast majority ended up as such by the end of the war because of what they were encouraged, and told to, and had done. No one took SS prisoners til after the fall of Germany where they were rounded up and sent to war crimes tribunals.

    Your "Spidey Senses are tingling" moment? They noticed the sounds of wildlife had stopped. When the wildlife goes quiet, something *bad* is in the area. In this case, the smell of death from the camp was so strong it scared all the wildlife away. Both in the show and in real life, from what they surviving members of Easy Company reported.

    Greek Mythology (and many other mythologies) are vast. They have been created over millenia. The Harry Potter world doesn't hold a candle to the amount of Greek Mythology there is. It is nearly impossible to "show not tell" without some amount of exposition to the modern audience. Unless you're a Greek person from 2 millenia or more ago, you're going to have to be explained stuff. Not to mention, Percy hasn't grown up as a demigod. Of course he needs to be told things. Without Encyclopedia Grover, we'd be as lost as Ogigia! (Yeah, you didn't get that reference. Guess why! Also, don't look it up. Spoiler warning).

    I really love the interaction scene with Perconte and O'Keefe. As a Vet myself I think it does a great job showing both sides of the argument without saying either man is right or wrong. O'Keefe wants to do his duty, he wants to do what he trained and suffered for, and most of all wants to feel like and know he contributed to the war and Allied victory. I saw a bit of action but nothing like what the guys before me did in the earlier years of the war so I understand his feelings. Surrounded by all these guys that endured and fought through the worst of it; Normandy, Holland, The Ardennes. It's very easy to feel like you didn't do anything at all if you weren't in the big stuff. But I also get where Perconte comes from. He *has* seen the worst of it. Seen his friends and comrades shot and mangled by explosions, endured hardships of awful weather and minimal food. Hell he's been shot too. To him someone openly wanting to experience that probably seems naive and stupid at best and outright offensive at worst. It's a short scene but I absolutely love it.

    I say it on pretty much every episode 7 reaction so I'll keep it short. Dyke was not a coward nor a bad officer. He just wasn't the guy to lead Easy Company. Also, he'd been awarded for bravery during Market Garden. He froze up on the attack on Foy because he'd be shot twice and was going into shock.

  • @randomlyentertaining8287
    @randomlyentertaining8287 2 дня назад

    You mentioned the music at the beginning. The fact that it was Beethoven and not Mozart is important. Beethoven was German while Mozart was Austrian. Hitler was not actually German. He was Austrian. Focus was put on Nixon's deteriorating situation to help add more power to the later camp scene. A reminder that no matter how bad you think your life is going, it can be a lot LOT worse for someone else. The men that executed the three Germans as the Americans drove by were French. That should explain why they were executing any Germans they could find. An...interesting note. Before the camps became the primary means of extermination, the Germans would often just round up Jews as they advanced and execute them by firing squad. After a while, it was found that the men tasked with this would develop symptoms of PTSD far quicker than normal. Turns out, even if you consciously tell yourself it's justified, the human brain is not naturally wired to accept murdering hundreds of innocent people. Also, remember that when you hear news of the conflict between Israel and Hamas that Hamas would love nothing more than to recreate exactly what the Nazis did. Several of the people that died during the October 7th attacks were Holocaust survivors. Just think on that when you hear people defending the acts that Hamas does as "not occurring in a vacuum".

    What baffles me the most about this, is that the real events happened only a mere 80 years ago... That's basically yesterday! Yet, the people and generations of today don't seem to realize what the human kind is capable to do to one another and go on with their petty lives as if it never happened. Some even go as far as pretending it was all exaggerated and not true. They play video games about it, watch movies about it, but somehow blocked out the reality of what happened in those camps. This really happened, and nobody saw it while it was happening until the war was over. Meanwhile, the world is dangerously veering towards another world war that could be even worse than WWII, and could involve our kids or even ourselves. We're this close... Just think about it, look around and see what's going on in the world, the wars, the growing division, the tension rising between powerful countries, the rise of Islam, the massive illegal immigration everywhere... etc... I don't know why, maybe I'm just paranoid, but I feel like we're not taking the signs and warnings seriously enough. This could very well happen again!

    My uncle who fought in WWII never mentioned the atrocities of what the nazis did but he would become so angry, so furious when he heard people say the Holocaust was all a farce, it didn't happen. Until one day he told us what he saw and he remembered just like if it was like yesterday the faces of those imprisoned by the nazis because of who they were. My uncle saw the evilness inflicted upon these human beings. He saw the empty shells of those who were once full of life. He remembered the smell and the gloominess. But strangely he never blamed the German soldier, the grunt because they were only following orders but he blamed those who were in command for murdering innocent men, women and children.

    You haven't taken to account that The Dutch were brutally stomped on by the Germans for 5 long years. Some of the Dutch mingled with their occupiers and gained favor for it while the rest of the nation suffered immensely. By the time they were liberated Men and women alike were extremely resentful to who cooperated in any way shape or form. The show did a great job showing that resentment unleashed. Men were executed. Women were scolded and shamed. Some of these men and women did no wrong. Women who were assaulted by the Germans got pregnant and scolded for it. That's the reality of war. People hurt, people lash out. It is human nature, and by no means is it humane at times of war.
